STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State women's tennis falls to No. 16 Vanderbilt Friday afternoon at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
State gained early momentum by collecting the doubles point. Athina Pitta/ Gianna Oboniye collected their second ranked doubles win of the season by starting the Bulldogs off with a 6-1 victory over No. 16 Valeria Ray/ Bridget Stammel.
No. 71 Chiara Di Genova/ Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz clinched the doubles point by defeating Sophia Webster/ Trinetra Vijayakumar 6-2.
Thessy Ntondele Zinga battled on her court claiming her first SEC singles win of the season. The freshman defeated Trinetra Vijayakumar, 7-5, 3-6, 7-5.
Mississippi State competed throughout singles play, but Vanderbilt responded by capturing the other five singles courts to secure the match.
