Dawgs Fifth After Schenkel Invitational Round One

STATESBORO, Ga. – Mississippi State played solid golf in round one of the Schenkel Invitational, sitting in fifth with a score of 3-under 285.

Garrett Endicott leads the Bulldogs in a tie for third overall after carding a round of 5-under 67. Endicott caught fire after an opening bogey, birdieing four of his next six holes before totaling seven birdies for the round. This is the senior's second 67 of the season and his lowest score to par this year.

Endicott now moves into second all-time at Mississippi State with 34 career rounds in the 60s.

Ugo Malcor followed his fellow senior with an opening round of 2-under 70, sitting in 14th for the event. He went out in 34, unblemished on the front side with two birdies, before finishing his round with an even-par back nine.

This marks Malcor's ninth round of par or better this season, which ranks second on the team.

Freshman Jackson Skinner kept up his consistent play with an even-par 72. Sitting at 2-over through his first 11, Skinner put together three-straight birdies to get into red figures before settling at even. This marks his fifth-consecutive round of par or better, dating back to the Fallen Oak Collegiate in October.

Drew Wilson and Ben Kelling rounded out the State lineup with respective rounds of 76 and 78. Bryson Hughes, playing as an individual, matched the best round of his collegiate career with a 1-under 71. The true freshman played steady golf with two birdies and currently sits tied for 19th.

State will begin round two off Hole No. 1 at 8:45 a.m. CT. Live results are available on SCOREBOARD.
