Bulldogs Third After Historic Second Round At Schenkel Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. – Mississippi State put together one of its best rounds in program history, firing a second round of 16-under 272 at the Schenkel Invitational to sit in third place for the event.

Today's round marks the third-best team score in program history. In the 2022-23 season, the Bulldogs carded a 265 in the second round of the Mossy Oak Collegiate while the 2023-24 squad shot a 270 in the Kapolei Invitational.

Freshman Jackson Skinner led State in round two with a blazing 7-under 65 – his best score to par in the Maroon and White. He carded seven birdies with no bogeys to mark his sixth-consecutive round of par or better and his third sub-70 round of the season. He is currently placed in a tie for eighth for the event.

Garrett Endicott fired his second-straight round of 5-under 67 to tie him for second going into the final round. Like his first round, Endicott came back from an opening bogey to go 6-under the rest of the way. He birdied two of his last three holes on the front nine before carding an eagle on the par-5 12th hole and finished with a pair of birdies in his final three holes.Â

Ugo Malcor continues to play consistent golf with another round of 2-under 70. Starting the round 1-over through his first four holes, the senior reeled off three birdies to close his front nine and settled with an even-par final nine to close the round at 2-under. He sits in a tie for 14th overall.

Drew Wilson matched his best round of the season, joining Malcor with a 2-under 70. He carded three birdies on the front side to make the turn at 2-under. After three bogeys on the back side, Wilson fought back with two birdies in his final three holes to finish his round two strokes under par.

Ben Kelling rounded out the team lineup with a 3-over 75, carding five birdies for the round. Freshman Bryson Hughes played his best golf of the season, firing a 3-under 69 – his lowest round as a Bulldog. He made the turn with a bogey-free 34 and birdied two of his last three holes to close the round strongly. He enters the final round tied for 14th as an individual competitor.
