Bulldogs Push Into Postseason
February 24, 2026 | Track & Field
STARKVILLE - The Bulldogs closed the regular indoor track and field season with momentum as they began to prep for the SEC Indoor Championships.
State looks to improve on their team finishes from last season, equipped with multiple All-American and All-SEC athletes set to compete this weekend.
Nicholas Fakorede, first team Indoor All-American, made the final in last season's championship. He finished just shy of the podium, running 6.56 for the 60m. His time set him second all-time in program history in the event. The sophomore continued into this year's indoor season, currently sitting at No. 19 in the NCAA and No. 11 in the SEC in the 60m.
In the field events, Roury McCloyen brings experience to the conference stage, as he finished sixth in shotput as the only freshman in the event at the 2024 Championships. The junior Mississippi native currently holds the Bulldogs' indoor shot put record, launching a 19.66m throw. McCloyen sits No. 9 in the NCAA and No. 3 in the SEC.
Senior jumper, Manie Mevo, recorded her personal best this season, leaping 13.18m and taking over the Bulldogs No. 2 spot all-time in the triple jump. She currently sits No. 5 in the SEC and No. 23 nationally, setting her up for a successful regular season.
Freshman Keayari Lee has contributed to the team's strength and is a key player for the Bulldogs during the indoor season. He ran a personal best of 45.99 in the Tiger Paw Invitational 400m, sending him to the record book. He holds the third fastest time in program history over this distance and sits in the top 30 in the NCAA.
The men's 4x400 team, featuring Malachi Burton, Christion Barker, Keayari Lee, and Sherman Hawkins, finished the Tiger Paw Invite at 3:05:18, marking them as the third fastest time in school history. They look to build into the Championships, finishing No. 16 in the NCAA and No. 9 in the SEC.
The women's 4x400m team, consisting of Jessicka Woods, Ife Adisa, Camryn Merryman and De'Kayla Simpson, sits in the top 10 in the conference and holds the second-fastest time in program history. The squad will look to improve on its time, just shy of the program record set at this meet last year.
The SEC Indoor Championships will be held from February 26th to 28th in College Station, Texas, followed by the NCAA Indoor Championships in Arkansas.
