STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women's golf will kick off their spring season on Sunday when they travel to Orlando, Florida, for the UCF Challenge. The tournament will begin on Sunday, January 25 and conclude on Tuesday, January 27.
Avery Weed, the top-ranked collegiate golfer, will sit at the top of the Bulldog lineup. She finished in the top four of all of her tournaments, including a win at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational.
Ines Belchior, a freshman from Portugal, will hold the second spot in the lineup for the Bulldogs. Belchior became the first Bulldog since 2021 to record an under-par finish in their collegiate debut when she finished T9 at the Mason Rudolph Championship in the fall season.
Samantha Whateley will be in the center of the Bulldog lineup at third. Whateley won her first collegiate tournament at the Mason Rudolph Championship fall at 9-under and shot in the 60s five times during the fall.
Freshman Moa Stridh will be fourth for the Bulldogs. Stridh recorded her first round in the 60s in the opening round of the Mason Rudolph Championship and shot par or better in three rounds during the fall.
Senior Izzy Pellot will wrap up the Bulldog five week in her hometown of Orlando. In last year's UCF-hosted event, Pellot earned her best collegiate finish of T3 at 9-under par. The event was her best tournament score to par, which included an opening round of 5-under, her best single round score.
Lynn van der Slujis will compete individually at UCF Challenge. van der Sluijs competed in only two tournaments during the fall season, but recorded her best round in the second day of State's home tournament, The Ally, where she shot 3-under par.
