Jemeli, Woods Earn National Championship Berths
May 31, 2025 | Track & Field
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Mississippi State runners Nelly Jemeli and Jessicka Woods earned the final NCAA Championships qualifications for the women's track and field team
Jemeli was the first athlete on the track for the final day of competition, lining up in the 3000m steeplechase. She clocked in at 9:59.39 to finish fifth in her section, improving her best by seven seconds.
After waiting for the rest of the field to compete, Jemeli's performance was fast enough to earn a time qualification spot at the NCAA Championships.
Next on the track was Woods, competing in both the 100m and 400m hurdle quarterfinals.
Woods matched her personal best of 56.48 in the 400m hurdles, securing her first championship berth in the event. Woods will compete at her second consecutive outdoor NCAA meet, as she qualified in the 100m hurdles last year. Â
Despite running a season's best of 13.23 in the short distance, Woods' performance was shy of a time qualifying spot for the championships.
Ramat Jimoh put up a solid effort in her first 800m quarterfinals race, running 2:03.73 to finish shy of the time qualifying spots.
The day concluded in the 5000m, with Milicent Kemboi improving her MSU No. 2 all-time mark to 15:59.89, after a personal best performance in the race.
The women's squad will send three athletes to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon, with Marie Rougetet rounding out the lineup.
