Navarro, Hassan Book The Final Men’s Tickets For the NCAA Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Mississippi State Men's track and field concluded its portion of the NCAA East First Round this evening.
Sam Navarro and Abdullahi Hassan booked the final two tickets for the men, both in the 800m.
Navarro dropped a full second off his previous best, running 1:46.47 to finish fourth in his section. After waiting for the next two heats to compete, he earned the fastest time qualifying spot, finishing
seventh overall.
Hassan coasted to a 1:45.64 finish, finishing second in the second section to earn an automatic qualifying spot at the national championships.
Peyton Bair, the 2024 NCAA decathlon runner-up, earned an automatic qualifying spot with his 8,111-point performance earlier this season.
The men's squad will send a group of five athletes to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, with Tuomas Narhi and Remi Rougetet rounding out the squad.
Action for this weekend will conclude with the women's competition tomorrow afternoon, with the triple jump being the first event.
