
Reese, Sullivan Up For Dick Howser Trophy

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State's Ace Reese and Noah Sullivan were both selected as semifinalists for the Dick Howser Trophy, which is presented to the top collegiate baseball player.
Reese currently ranks second in the Southeastern Conference with a .371 batting average, 18 doubles, 21 home runs and a .767 slugging percentage while also sitting third with 78 hits and 66 RBIs. The sophomore from Canton, Texas has started 53 games for the Diamond Dawgs at third base and tops the league with 161 total bases.
Sullivan has been a stalwart in State's lineup as the only Bulldog to start all 55 games. The junior has hit .346 with 15 doubles, 13 homers, 43 RBIs and ranks fourth in the SEC with an on-base percentage of .479.
Sullivan, also a right-handed pitcher from Orlando, Florida, has made seven starts on the mound with a 1.96 earned run average, 15 strikeouts and only three walks through 18 1/3 innings but has not factored into a decision.
The Diamond Dawgs are one of five schools from the Southeastern Conference to have multiple players picked among the 67 semifinalists joining Arkansas, Florida, Tennessee and Texas.
Finalists for the Dick Howser Trophy will be announced on June 7 with the winner unveiled on June 13 at 9:30 a.m. on MLB Network.
