Kids Coach- Lincoln Loecher
April 05, 2025 | Baseball
Kid Coach is a partnership between Children's of Mississippi and the Mississippi State Bulldogs to salute pediatric patients. Their inspirational stories remind us just how truly courageous these young people are.
This week's Children's of Mississippi Kid Coach is Lincoln Loecher of Madison.
Lincoln was born with a rare urological condition, posterior urethral valves, that prevented his bladder from emptying. He spent 19 days in the NICU at Children's of Mississippi and had surgery at only 17 days old to remove the tissue causing the blockage. He required a second surgery at age 2.
Even with prompt care, Lincoln's condition caused permanent damage to his kidneys and bladder. In fact, his right kidney no longer works. Now with Stage 2 chronic kidney disease, he sees pediatric nephrologists and urologists at Children's every three to four months for careful monitoring. He also follows a special renal diet. The goal is to keep his damaged, yet functioning, left kidney working as long as possible. He may need a future kidney transplant.
Now 6 years old, Lincoln is active and going strong. He loves playing outside and riding his bike with friends. He likes wild animals a lot and is quick to share facts about them with his parents. He also loves all sports. And, since his grandparents are MSU alums, we think he is an honorary Bulldog!
Have fun at Saturday's game, Lincoln. Your friends at Children's of Mississippi are cheering for you!
