
No. 57 MSU Splits Doubleheader

STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State women's tennis team split a doubleheader at the Rula Tennis Pavilion on Sunday. After dropping a 4-2 decision to LSU, the Bulldogs bounced back blanking Eastern Kentucky, 4-0.
State began the day on a strong note as Gianna Oboniye and Athina Pitta paired up to hand LSU's No. 11 Cadence Brace and Kayla Cross their first doubles dual match loss of the season. However, the tigers won the next two doubles matches to clinch the doubles point. LSU won two singles matches to gain a 3-1 lead before Kenna Erickson clinched the match for LSU.
Later, the Bulldogs won two straight doubles matches to gain a 1-0 lead. Jayna Clemens and Di Genova each picked up singles triumphs to extend the lead to 3-0. After dropping her first set, Carolina Troiano battled back to win a 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 decision over EKU's Masha Fedenko to clinch the match for MSU.
