
Battling In The Boot

BATON ROUGE, La. – Mississippi State track and field closed the Battle on the Bayou Saturday afternoon. Day two of the competition was highlighted by a pair of MSU top-five all-time performances in the women's 100m.
The day began in the women's discus, with Jewel Giles throwing a massive personal best of 47.51m to finish 11th overall. Her mark is just centimeters shy of the MSU all-time top five list in the event. Jessicka Woods, an All-American in the 100m hurdles, opened her season this afternoon, running 13.63 to finish fifth overall.
The day closed in the 100m, with both Jaitlyn Ware and Kyndall Sessom posting MSU top-five all-time marks. Ware finished 13th overall with a new personal best of 11.53 (3.3) for the fourth fastest time in program history. Sessom finished closely behind with 11.54 (2.8), breaking the tie she previously held for the fifth-fastest time in program history. The men concluded day two with four personal bests and multiple top 20 finishes on both the track and in the field.
Due to inclement weather, the meat was canceled following the 100m races. The Bulldogs will be back in action next weekend in Gainesville, competing at the Florida Relays.
