Bulldogs In The Bayou
March 27, 2025 | Track & Field
BATON ROUGE, La. – Mississippi State track and field is set to compete in the first away meet of the season, the Battle on the Bayou, this weekend.
The Bulldogs had a solid season opener at the Alumni Bulldog Relays, where four players were named to the MSU all-time top five lists, and one program record was broken. Marie Rougetet solidified herself as the best hammer thrower in MSU history at the home meet, breaking the program record in her first outdoor meet as a Bulldog. Rougetet sits in the top ten nationally and looks to improve her mark in the hammer this weekend.
Following the hammer throw, action will begin on the track in the women's 400m hurdles on Friday afternoon. Jessicka Woods, the fourth fastest in the event in MSU history, will look to extend her personal best streak in the event this weekend. Remi Rougetet, a two-time All-American, will open his season in the javelin tomorrow afternoon.
Kennedy Stringfellow currently leads both the squad and the conference in the 200m and is entered in the event this weekend. Brooklyn Quanz, the Canadian U20 steeplechase champion, will open her season in the event tomorrow evening. The day will close in the distance races, with ten Bulldogs entered in the 1500m and one in the 5000m races.
