Kohn Leads State To Series-Opening Win At No. 10 Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. – Mississippi State secured its first Southeastern Conference victory of the season by taking down 10th-ranked Oklahoma on Friday night in the opening game of a three-game series.
Pico Kohn led the way for MSU, claiming the win on the mound after pitching six shutout innings, only allowing two hits and striking out 10 to improve to 4-0 on the year.
Luke Dotson pitched the final two scoreless frames and picked up his second save of the spring. Dotson struck out three and surrendered just one hit.
The Diamond Dawgs (15-7, 1-3 SEC) collected seven hits with Sawyer Reeves and Bryce Chance both going 2-for-4. Chance and Dylan Cupp each had an RBI and Noah Sullivan added his seventh double.
Oklahoma (18-3, 2-2 SEC) finished with four hits and suffered its first home loss of the season.

Mississippi State continues the series with Oklahoma on Saturday. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. CT and will be streamed on SEC Network+.
State will send junior right-hander Ben Davis (1-1, 3.26 ERA) to start on the mound while the Sooners counter with junior lefty Cade Crossland (1-1, 4.70 ERA).
Game Notes:
- Kohn struck out eight-straight Sooners between the third and fifth innings and finished with 10, one shy of his career-high.
- Kohn surpassed 100 career innings during his outing.
- It was the first loss Oklahoma has suffered at home all season after entering the series 13-0 at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
