No. 14 Bulldogs Set For Darius Rucker Intercollegiate

STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State women's golf team hit the halfway mark of their spring schedule, as they head to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. The three-day tournament will kick of on Monday, March 3 and will be featured on NBC's Golf Channel.

The Darius Rucker Intercollegiate takes place at Long Cove Club at Hilton Head Island. The course is unique to State's schedule, as it is the first par-71 course that the Bulldogs will play on this season, spanning 6,413 yards.

Avery Weed will shoot in the top spot of the Bulldog lineup. The sophomore is shooting 71.27 on the season, the lowest average of any State golfer. She's recorded 11 par or better rounds, tying her freshman year total.

Izzy Pellot will follow Weed in the lineup. Pellot has shot back-to-back 9-under tournaments to kick off the spring schedule, tying her lowest 54-hole total she set her freshman season. She's finished under par in her last six rounds of golf, with four being in the 60s.

Chiara Horder holds the middle spot for State. She has carded nine par or better rounds in the 2024-25 season, besting her five from last season. She carded her first round in the 60s as a Bulldog in the second round of the PDI Intercollegiate (69, -3).

Ana Pina Ortega will hold the fourth spot. She is playing her best golf this season, as she has finished under-par in her last three tournaments, which are the only three times she has done such in her career. She has collected seven par or better rounds over those nine rounds.

Samantha Whateley wraps up the Bulldog lineup. Whateley is coming off the best finish of her career at the Chevron Collegiate, where she finished tied for third at 10-under par. Her last five rounds have been par or better, including tying her low-18 of 68 (-4) twice at the Chevron Collegiate.

The Bulldogs will start their day at 9:30 a.m. on Monday. Live scoring for the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate is available at scoreboard.clippd.com. NBC's Golf Channel will also carry a portion of the tournament each day from 1:30-4:30 p.m.
