March 01, 2025 | Track & Field
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Mississippi State track and field concluded the SEC Indoor Championship with four scoring performances on day three.
The day began on the track in the 60m, with Nicholas Fakorede making his SEC final debut. He earned fourth in the race, running a new personal best of 6.56 to extend his MSU NO. 2 all-time mark in the event. Fakorede was shy of the podium by 0.003 seconds and will await an indoor national championship qualification berth.
Two Bulldogs qualified for the men's 800m final, with Abdullahi Hassan finishing second to earn silver in his first SEC final. Sam Navarro also qualified to his first conference final, finishing eighth to score one point for the men's team. Hassan is the second Bulldog to earn silver at the indoor conference championship in as many years, with Tyrese Reid taking silver at the 2024 meet.
The day ended with the 4x400m relays, with the men's squad earning a scoring finish. The team consisting of Christion Barker, Cyrus Jacobs Jr., Alfonso Hale Jr. and Peyton Bair ran 3:06.00 to finish fifth overall. The squad, like Fakorede, await indoor national championship berths. The women's 4x400m ended the conference on a high note, shattering the program record by nearly three seconds. The team consisting of Jessicka Woods, Jaitlyn Ware, Kennedy Jackson and Rickyla Fagan ran to finish ninth overall.
The day concluded with Peyton Bair receiving his SEC Men's Indoor Scholar-Athlete Of The Year Award, announced earlier this week.
