Hubbard Chosen To Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – Mississippi State's Josh Hubbard has been selected to the 2024-25 Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List announced Monday by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA).

Hubbard is one of 11 SEC players among the list of 50 standout players from across the country. He also has been named to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Watch List in addition to Bob Cousy Award and Lute Olson Award Preseason Watch Lists.

The Oscar Robertson Trophy winner is to be announced at the NCAA Men's Final Four in San Antonio, from April 5-7. The formal presentation of the trophy will follow at the annual USBWA Awards Luncheon hosted by the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis. A final watch list will be released in early March and those chosen will be included on the USBWA's annual awards ballot.

Hubbard has piled up 985 career points which is tops among State freshmen and sophomore in program history. The 985 points also are the third-most for a State player through 57 games. He enters this week's action 15 points shy of becoming the 45th player in program history to amass 1,000 for his career. Only Bailey Howell (1957-58-59) and Jerry Jenkins (1973-74-75) would have accomplished the feat in fewer games than Hubbard.

Hubbard has racked up double figures in 51 of 57 outings fueled by 21 efforts of 20+ points. He has sunk multiple triples in 48 of 57 career games and has hit at least one three-pointer in 35 consecutive games which is the second-longest streak in State history. In total, he has already buried 179 treys which is already 9th on the program's all-time list.

Hubbard has poured in 17.6 points per game this season which is 6th among the SEC leaders. He fired in 25 of his career-best 38 points after halftime versus No. 4 Alabama (01/29). The 38 points are the most for a State player versus a ranked opponent, the most by a State player during the 2000s and the most by a SEC player during a conference game this season.

Hubbard checks in among the SEC's top 15 in three-point field goals made (3.23 – 2nd), three-point field goal percentage (36.4 – 5th), free throw percentage (86.1 – 9th) and field goal percentage (39.9 – 15th). He also is attempting to become the 6th players in program history to secure at least

500 points and 100 assists during the same season.

State is ranked No. 22 in this week's Associated Press Top 25 and returns to action following its midweek bye at Georgia on Saturday evening. Tip time is slated for 5 p.m. CT televised by SEC Network and available on the ESPN app.
