STARKVILLE – Mississippi State soccer's Nick Zimmerman has secured his third signee as head coach, bringing in another recruit to bolster the deep class of 2025. Midfielder Laila Juliette Murillo will join the reigning SEC Champions in Starkville next fall.
Â
Murillo, a native of Dallas, Texas, will graduate from Ursuline Academy of Dallas, where she anchored the midfield earning Second Team All-State honors in her senior campaign. Murillo averaged 1.0 goals and 0.8 assists per game in her final season, one that saw her win her third state title with Ursuline Academy and be named District Newcomer of the Year for 2024. Murillo missed her freshman and sophomore seasons with an injury.
Â
She played club soccer with Sting Black ECNL alongside fellow MSU classmate Jalen Chaney. The club found success in the Dallas International Cup, winning once and finishing as runners-up twice. Murillo also earned individual honors, being named Second Team All-Conference in the 2020-2021 season. The club reached the ECNL Playoffs in 2023.
Â
Additionally, Murillo was named a Top 50 Player to Watch in her age group by InStat Scouts in 2022.
