
Pellot, Whateley Tied For Second Heading Into Final Day Of The Chevron Collegiate

HUMBLE, Texas. – After a 36-hole day to open the Chevron Collegiate, the No. 12 Mississippi State Bulldogs are tied for fourth at 12-under par heading into the final round. The play from Izzy Pellot and Samantha Whateley highlighted the Bulldogs opening day.

State started the day on fire, shooting 11-under through the first 18 holes of the day. It marked the best round of the field and the fourth lowest opening round in program history. All four counting scores were under-par through the first round.

Izzy Pellot and Samantha Whateley each shot 4-under in each round, which puts them both two strokes off of the lead at 8-under going into the final round. Pellot carded nine birdies across the two rounds, while Whateley picked up 10. It marks the best score through two rounds for both golfers in their careers.

Avery Weed opened the tournament with a 5-under round. The 67 marks the third lowest round for Weed on the season and is the fourth time in her career that she has finished a round 5-under or better. Weed sits tied for 22nd headed into the final round.
