No. 26 MSU Earns Its First SEC Victory of the Season Against No. 16 Tennessee
February 22, 2025 | Men's Tennis
KNOXVILLE – No. 26 Mississippi State defeated No. 16 Tennessee, 4-3, in its first SEC and road match of the season.
The Bulldogs clinched the doubles point and did not let up, as they won three out of the next four matches to clinch the victory. Tennessee came and earned two points back after the match was already clinched by MSU.
Records: Mississippi State 11-1 // Tennessee 9-3
Quoteable: "Proud of the boys today. It's never easy on the road in the SEC and Tennessee always fights so well. A few guys that stood out to me were the new additions to the squad this year. Niccolo and Bryan being freshman on the road handling their courts as well as they did, and, of course, Mario staying composed and focused to get the clinch. We are ready for another battle Monday at Kentucky. Hail State!" – MSU Head Coach Matt Roberts
