
No. 10 Bulldogs To Kick Spring Season Off At PDI Intercollegiate

STARKVILLE – The tenth-ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs are set to begin the spring golf season at the PDI Intercollegiate in Orlando, Florida. The tournament will kick off on Sunday, February 2 and conclude on Tuesday, February 5.

The defending SEC Champions wrapped up the fall season with top three finishes in three of their four tournaments, including runner-up finishes at the Blessings Intercollegiate and The Ally. State took home two individual victories, as Avery Weed earned first place finishes at the Mason Rudolph Championship and The Ally.

Weed will shoot in the one spot for the Bulldogs. During the fall season, she shot a 71.08 average, which is the lowest of the six Bulldogs currently on roster. She carded three rounds in the 60s, including a 61 (-11) in the opening round of The Ally, which tied the NCAA record for the lowest round in relation to par.

Chiara Horder is second in the State lineup. The senior from Germany sports a 73.35 career average over her four seasons. She finished in the top 20 three times over the fall, including a tenth-place finish at 2-under in The Ally.

Izzy Pellot will tee off in the third position. The Orlando, Florida native had a strong fall, as she finished in the top 20 three times, the first time she had done such multiple times in a season since the spring of her freshman year.

Ana Pina Ortega qualified for the fourth spot for Mississippi State. The senior earned her first under-par performance of her career in The Ally, where she finished two under par. She tied her career-best round in the second day, shooting two-under in the round.

Samantha Whateley will round out the Bulldog lineup in Orlando. Whateley picked up three par or better rounds in the fall season, which showed improvement from her two during her freshman year.

Surapa Janthamunee will be competing individually at the PDI Intercollegiate. SJ had her best finish during the spring of last season, where she finished 5-under par in the NCAA Bermuda Run Regional to help the Bulldogs advance to the NCAA Championship for the third straight season.
