State will be facing off with their fifth ranked opponent this season. The Bulldogs are 1-4 in those games, with the lone victory coming over then-ranked No. 10 Oklahoma.

Purcell is also two wins away from his 63rd win at Mississippi State, which would give him the most overall wins of any MSU head coach in their first three seasons.
