November 20, 2025 | Men's Tennis
ORLANDO, Fla. – Mississippi State's Petar Jovanovic continued his historic run at the NCAA Individual Championships on Thursday, powering his way into the quarterfinals of the singles draw with a straight-set win at the USTA National Campus.
Jovanovic earned a gritty 7-5, 7-5 victory over Virginia's Keegan Rice, securing his spot among the nation's final eight. With the win, Jovanovic becomes just the sixth Bulldog in program history to advance to the NCAA Singles Quarterfinals, adding another milestone to an already decorated postseason.
In doubles, the nation's No. 1-ranked pairing of Jovanovic and Benito Sanchez Martinez saw their championship run come to a close. The Mississippi State duo fell to Virginia's Dylan Dietrich and Mans Dahlberg, 6-3, 7-6 (3), in a tightly contested Round of 16 matchup. The loss ends a standout fall season for the pair, who advanced past the opening round of the NCAA Doubles Championship for the third consecutive year.
Jovanovic will return to action Friday against Trevor Svajda as he looks to become the first Bulldog to reach the NCAA Singles Semifinals since 2019.
