ORLANDO, Fla. – Mississippi State's impressive week at the NCAA Individual Championships came to a close Friday as senior standout Petar Jovanovic fell in the quarterfinals of the singles draw to SMU's Trevor Svajda, 3–6, 2-6.
Jovanovic's run capped a historic showing for the Bulldogs in Orlando. Earlier this week, the newest State Singles All-American became the sixth Bulldog in program history to advance to the singles quarterfinals and the first since 2019, when Mississippi State legends Nuno Borges and Giovanni Oradini last reached the elite stages of both singles and doubles.
With his quarterfinal appearance in singles, Jovanovic has officially earned 2026 ITA All-American honors in both singles and doubles, adding to one of the strongest fall campaigns in the country. He also collected another ranked victory in his Round of 16 win over Virginia's Keegan Rice (7–5, 7–5), continuing a season defined by clutch performances on the national stage.
This week also marked several major milestones for Mississippi State:
