THE BOTTOM LINE: Mississippi State dropped a 98-77 decision against Kansas State during the Bulldogs' first game of the four-team Hall of Fame Classic on Thursday night in a neutral-site showdown at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. After six lead changes in the first half, MSU found itself in a 44-36 deficit heading into the locker room at halftime. In the second half, Jayden Epps sank three triples and the Bulldogs fought hard to stay alive, but Kansas State reeled off a quick 11-0 run over a 2:13 minute stretch to take an 82-64 lead and pull away.
KEY NUMBERS: Josh Hubbard notched a team-leading 23 points on the night for State. Jayden Epps recorded 18 points off the bench for the Bulldogs, leading the charge as the MSU reserves outscored Kansas State 34-24. However, it was P.J. Haggerty's 37-point performance for the Wildcats and Kansas State sinking 14 threes as a team that were the deciding factors in the contest.
