Bulldogs Set for Blessings Collegiate Invitational
September 29, 2024 | Women's Golf
STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State Bulldogs are set to continue their fall season on Monday, as they travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas to compete in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational.
Â
The unique format of the tournament sees both the women's and men's teams competing. Along with both teams competing, the style of play differs as well. The teams will participate in a fivesome with their teammates, rather than pairing up with other teams. The five Bulldogs competing at the Blessings will be Julia Lopez Ramirez, Avery Weed, Chiara Horder, Samantha Whateley and Izzy Pellot.
Â
Lopez Ramirez enters the tournament after finishing 4-under par at the Mason Rudolph Championship. She is no stranger to having success at the Blessings, as she picked up an individual title along with State's team title at the 2022 edition of the Blessings.
Â
Weed enters the tournament after arguably playing the best golf of her collegiate career last tournament. She finished 13-under par to earn her first collegiate title. Weed's play at the Mason Rudolph allowed her to earn her first SEC Golfer of the Week honor.
Â
Chiara Horder returns to the Blessings for the second time in her career this week. Last season, Horder fired off a pair of 1-under rounds in a weather-shortened event to finish eighth, her best finish as a Bulldog.
Â
Samantha Whateley will appear in the Blessings for the second time in her collegiate career. In two tournaments, Whateley has shot two par or better rounds, which tied the amount she picked up throughout last season's duration.
Â
Izzy Pellot will round out the Bulldog lineup for the week. In her first appearance in the Blessings her freshman year, Pellot finished tied at 11th to help the Bulldogs to the team title.
Â
The women's team is set to begin the tournament on Monday at 10:45. The Blessings Collegiate Invitational is set to broadcast live on NBC's Golf Channel, beginning at 3:30 p.m. CT. Live scoring for the Blessings is available at scoreboard.clippd.com.
