
No. 12 Jovanovic Splits Day 7 At ITA All-American

TULSA, Okla. – Mississippi State wrapped up a seven-day stint at one of the top fall tennis tournaments in the country on Friday afternoon.
The Bulldogs secured six wins while at the ITA All-American Championships, four of which were ranked victories.
No. 12 Petar Jovanovic was the last MSU player standing at the event and secured his first ranked win of the season on Friday morning. Jovanovic cruised to a 7-6(5), 6-1 victory over 70th-ranked Alexander Bernard of Ohio State in the second round of the singles main draw consolation bracket.
The junior All-American from Montenegro faced his second ranked matchup of the day later that afternoon against No. 26 Dhakshineswar Suresh of Wake Forest. Jovanovic prevailed 6-3 in the first set but saw Suresh even things with a 6-3 victory in the second. With the third set tied 5-5, Suresh collected a crucial break point which set himself up for a 7-5 win.
MSU will get a bit of a break before returning to action at the ITF Winston-Salem 15K in North Carolina from Oct. 14-20.
