#StateToSundays: Week 2 Update
September 17, 2024 | Football
Charles Cross is proving he is worth every penny that the Seattle Seahawks spent on him when they selected him ninth overall in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Cross has the highest Pro Football Focus (PFF) offensive grade of any tackle in the NFL this season at 90.2, which is also the top offensive grade on the Seahawks.
So far this season, the former Mississippi State All-American has played 137 snaps without committing a penalty. In 75 pass blocking snaps at left tackle, Cross has not allowed a single sack, hurry, pressure or quarterback hit.
Last week, Cross garnered the top offensive grade of any NFL player at 94.8. Through two games, he's Seattle's best run blocker (90.7) and pass blocker (81.5).
Cross, however, isn't the only Bulldog proving to be an elite blocker on the next level. Offensive guard Elgton Jenkins owns Green Bay's best pass blocking grade, second-highest offensive grade and ranks No. 3 in run blocking grade.
This past week, Jenkins ranked eighth among all NFL offensive linemen with an 85.3 pass-blocking grade in the Packers' win over Indianapolis.
Chris Jones picked up a half-sack in Kansas City's 26-25 win over the Bengals. Jones also received the fifth-highest pressure grade in the NFL (90.2) during Week 2, which ranked the second-best at his position.
Jones has the No. 2 pass rush grade (90.1) among interior defenders in the NFL this year and owns the second-best defensive grade on the Chiefs.
Jeffery Simmons made five tackles for the Tennessee Titans last week and ranked third among interior defenders in the NFL in run defense. Simmons has the highest run defensive grade for the Titans through the first two weeks.
Preston Smith posted the top run defensive grade for the Packers this past week and has the second-best mark on the team in that category this season.
Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott connected on 27 of 39 passes for 293 yards and a 65-yard touchdown pass to CeeDee Lamb. Tyrus Wheat recorded a pair of tackles against New Orleans on Sunday and now has the No. 5 tackling grade for the Cowboys. Â
