Diamond Dawgs Earn ABCA Academic Excellence Award

STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State baseball team was one of 129 NCAA Division I program to receive the 2023-24 Team Academic Excellence Award from the American Baseball Coaches Association, the association announced on Wednesday.
Mississippi State was one of seven SEC schools to be recognized with the award.
The Diamond Dawgs had 20 players earn SEC Academic Honor Roll this spring and another 18 players earn SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll honors.
Teams from every level of college and high school baseball were recognized with the award, which highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2023-24 academic year.
The ABCA has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/Diamond Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
