St. Clair Signs Professional Contract With WPF-Expansion Texas Monarchs

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Mississippi State's Brylie St. Clair has signed a professional contract with the newly formed Texas Monarchs, which will compete in Women's Pro Fastpitch (WPF).

She becomes the 24th professional player in program history, and head coach Samantha Ricketts has now mentored 12 of those pros over her decade-plus spent in Starkville. Notably, with her signing, Ricketts' first two teams as head coach in 2020 and 2021 had five future pros on the roster (Fa Leilua, Mia Davidson-Smith, Annie Willis and Chloe Malau'ulu).

St. Clair was part of one of the most successful classes in program history, and only three former Bulldogs have ever played in more NCAA Tournament games than she did.

"We are extremely proud of Brylie continuing the tradition of Bulldog greats playing professionally," Ricketts said. "She will be remembered for giving so much to this program and helping to build for the future. I am excited that she now gets the chance to do the same for our game and help grow the sport of softball on the professional stage with WPF and the Texas Monarchs."

St. Clair started all but two games this season and started all but three of State's games over her final three seasons. The former center fielder moved to left field for her final campaign. She stole 24 bases in her career and was among the Bulldogs' top two base stealers in each of the last three years. Her speed led her to collect a team-leading 18 infield singles in 2023, including a 12-for-16 mark when bunting for a hit. The Sand Rock, Alabama, native made just three errors this year while leading State's outfield with 72 putouts and one assist.

"I am very grateful for the opportunity to continue my athletic career professionally," St. Clair said. "It has been a total dream come true, and I am so excited for this next chapter."

She will have the opportunity to go head-to-head with former teammates Leilua and Malau'ulu who remain active with the Oklahoma City Spark in WPF action this summer. Davidson-Smith is also still playing professionally, splitting her time between Athletes Unlimited and Denso Bright Pegasus in the Japan Diamond League while also representing her country as a member of the United States Women's National Team.
