
Three Bulldogs Punch Tickets to Eugene On Day One of NCAA East First Rounds

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Mississippi State's men's track and field team punched three tickets to Eugene and three trips to Friday's quarterfinals on the opening day of the NCAA East First Round. Despite multiple weather delays, Franck Di Sanza (javelin), Remi Rougetet (javelin) and Roury McCloyen (Shot put) qualified for the NCAA Championships.

Peyton Bair (110m hurdles), AJ Hale (400m hurdles) and Jordan Ware (200m) will have the chance to advance later this week.

Di Sanza, a senior, punched the first ticket for the Bulldogs with a fourth-place finish in the javelin with a mark of 72.38m (237-5.0). Rougetet followed suit with a mark of 69.65m (228-6.0). The JavU duo will make their second appearances at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Rougetet placed ninth overall at the 2023 Championships, while Di Sanza placed sixth at the 2021 event as a member of Southeastern Louisiana.

McCloyen punched his ticket in the shot put earning 11th place with a mark of 18.81m (61-9.75). The freshman shot put school record holder was the only freshman shot putter in the East Region to earn a ticket to Eugene and is only one of two within the East and West regions. McCloyen placed sixth in the shot put at both the SEC Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships, as the only freshman in the field.

Decathlon qualifier Bair has the chance to secure his second ticket to Eugene after automatically qualifying for the quarterfinals with a third-place finish in his heat in the 110m hurdles. Bair placed 11th overall in the decathlon at the 2023 Championships and currently stands 10th in the nation in the same event.

Hale placed fourth in his heat and 15th overall in the 400m hurdles to qualify as a top-23 quarterfinalist. The junior placed second overall at the 2022 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Championships. Â

Ware placed fourth in his heat and 16th overall in the 200m with a time of 20.59, earning him a trip to Friday's quarterfinals. Ware, who ranks sixth in the nation in the 200m with a time of 20.18w, is one of three freshmen to advance to the quarterfinals in the East Region and is one of four within both the East and West regions.
