Charlie Ewing named to Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year Watch List
May 15, 2024 | Women's Golf
STARKVILLE – The Women's Golf Coaches Association announced its watch list for the Coach of the Year award on Wednesday. The list is highlighted by Mississippi State's Charlie Ewing.
Â
In his fourth season in Starkville, Ewing has taken the program to heights never seen before. The Bulldogs secured their first SEC Championship on April 16, as well as the program's third individual champion in Julia Lopez Ramirez, who is the fourth golfer in history to win back-to-back SEC Individual Championships.
Â
The Bulldogs haven't stopped there, as they continued their season as the four seed in the NCAA Bermuda Run Regional, marking the fourth consecutive regional appearance for the Dawgs. State will continue their season at the NCAA Championship, which marks the third year in a row that the Bulldogs will be competing at the highest stage of collegiate golf. Ewing set a new program record with the most consecutive appearances in the NCAA Championship, as well as being one of 14 programs in the nation to make the past three championships.
Â
Ewing will look to continue the program's success when the Bulldogs begin play at the NCAA Championship on May 17.
