Bulldogs Display Strong Performance On Day 2 Of SEC Outdoor Championships

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Mississippi State put together several strong performances Friday at the 2024 SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Gainesville.
Three Bulldogs advanced to the finals and five scored team points to total 21 points on the second day of the event's competition. The men accounted for 11 of those points while the women recorded 10.
Rosealee Cooper (100m hurdles), Hayley Ogle (1,500m) and Hunter Anderson (1,500) advanced to Saturday's finals. Jordan Ware (200m), Tyrese Reid (800m) and Mallory Streetman (800m), who qualified for finals Thursday, are also scheduled to compete Saturday.
Cooper will compete in the 100m finals for the second time this year after tying her school-record time of 12.93 and placing seventh overall. The All-American finished eighth in the nation during the 2024 indoor season.
Ogle and Anderson each ran personal bests by more than two seconds. Ogle finished third in a strong push from fourth to third only yards in front of the finish line. Anderson placed 12th overall.
In other events, Kennedy Jackson scored the first five points for the Bulldogs after placing fourth in the heptathlon with a personal record of 5,366 points. Jackson also placed second in both the 100m and the 200m and finished third in the long jump.
Roury McCloyen earned three points with a sixth-place finish in the shot put, while Jhordyn Stallworth earned one point after placing eighth. McCloyen, the freshman shot put school record holder, finished with a distance of 18.40m (60-44.5). Stallworth, the women's shot put school record holder, completed the event with a mark of 16.84m (55-3.0). It marked a career-best postseason finish for Stallworth.
Freshman Kennedy Stringfellow placed eight in the long jump to earn one point for the Bulldog men. Stringfellow jumped 7.35m (24-1.50) and was one of only two freshman in the field to score.
The javelin squad earned a total of nine points, five for the men and four for the women. Remi Rougetet and Franck Di Sanza placed sixth and seventh, respectively, while Ella Knott finished fifth.
The final day of the SEC Outdoor Championships will begin at 2 p.m. CT Saturday with the men's discus featuring State's freshman discus record holder McCloyen. The men's pole vault will begin at 4 p.m. CT followed by running events at 5:05 p.m. CT. Championship events featuring the Bulldogs will begin at 5:35 p.m. CT with the women's 1500m, followed by the men's 800m at 6:45 p.m. CT and the women's 800m at 6:55 p.m. CT. The men's 200m finals will start at 7:25 p.m. CT. Saturday's events will conclude with the 4x400m relays at 8:40 p.m. CT.
