Cruz Silva Named To SEC Community Service Team

Pedro Cruz Silva was named Mississippi State's representative on the 2024 SEC Community Service Team. Â
Cruz Silva was the organizer of State's men's golf team trip to visit the TK Martin Center, Mississippi State's on-campus disability center. The Mission of the T.K. Martin Center for Technology & Disability is to ensure that children with disabilities are able to continually benefit from technological solutions and advances in the field of assistive technology. Â
The Bulldog senior also assisted with the Partnership Middle School candy drive to supply candy to students at the middle school located on campus.   Â
In addition to his service activity, Cruz Silva participated in the MSU Top Dawg Leadership Program after being selected by head coach Dusty Smith. The student-athlete development program works with one student-athlete per team to increase his or her ability as a leader.Â
The Southeastern Conference names a Community Service Team in all 21 sponsored sports each year. Cruz Silva has also earned two SEC Academic Honor Roll selections in his career in 2021 and 2022.Â
The Bulldogs will open the NCAA Championships at the West Lafayette Regional in West Lafayette, Indiana, on Monday. The regional will carry through to Wednesday with the top five teams advancing to the NCAA Championship Event in Carlsbad, California. Â
