Atkins Sets Personal Record On Day One Of Crimson Tide Invitational

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Mississippi State women's track and field sophomore Rickea Atkins set a personal record in the discus throw on the first day of competition at the Crimson Tide Invitational in Tuscaloosa.
In her first discus event of the season, Aktins earned a mark of 36.75m (120-7.0) on her third attempt. Atkins' mark has improved more than two feet since her previous best in 2023. She will return to the field at 5:45 p.m. CT Saturday for the shot put. MSU's women's shot put squad is ranked 10th in the nation by the USTFCCCA.Â
The Bulldogs will resume action at 10:30 a.m. CT Saturday with the women's javelin followed by the pole vault and the 800m at 4 p.m. CT.Â
Select events Saturday will be streamed beginning at 11:30 a.m. CT on SEC Network+.
