STARKVILLE - The Mississippi State University baseball team defeated the Auburn Tigers on Friday night, 8-1, in the series' first game. The Bulldogs rode the wave of a mix of Khal Stephen and offensive firepower to victory in front of a packed Dudy Noble Field.

Khal Stephen drew the start, and in seven innings of work, he only gave up six hits, one run, and two walks while punching out 11. He earned his sixth win on the season with the performance. Tyler Davis closed the game by allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out four in the final two innings.

Connor Hujsak and Bryce Chance led the Diamond Dawgs at the plate. Hujsak went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and was the only player with a multi-RBI game tonight. Chance went 2-for-4 with one RBI, which came from his solo shot in the fourth. Ethan Pulliam, Logan Kohler, and David Mershon also had impressive performances. Pulliam went 2-for-3, Kohler went 2-for-3 with one RBI, and Mershon went 1-for-2 with one RBI. A multitude of Bulldogs contributed at the plate, as six players had a hit, and four had multi-hit games.
