McCloyen, Stallworth Breaks Records, Bulldogs Impress On Day Two Of Battle On The Bayou

BATON ROUGE, La – Freshman Roury McCloyen and senior Jhordyn Stallworth broke a total of three school records Saturday at the Battle On The Bayou. McCloyen improved both his freshman shot put and discus record while Stallworth improved the women's shotput record to highlight the final day of events.

McCloyen broke a freshman throw record for the fifth time in his career and placed third in both the shot put and discus throw with personal record marks of 19.29m (63-3.50) and 56.01 (183.09), respectively. He improved his shot put distance by over three feet from his previous personal record and improved his discus distance by over seven feet. He ranks second on State's performance list and seventh in the nation for the shot put. He is currently the only freshman to have a top-10 performance this season.

Stallworth broke the shot put record for the third time in the 2024 seasons. She also placed third in the shot put with a personal record mark of 17.30m (56-9.25) and improved her previous record distance by three feet. She has improved her shot put distance by over nine feet since she set the freshman shot put record with a distance of 41.41m (47-2.75) in 2021. She currently ranks sixth in the nation.

The men's 4x400m team wrote their names onto State's performance list with a time of 3:03.29 in a fourth-place finish. The squad featuring, senior Sema'J Daniels, juniors Doval Simmonds and Alfonso Hale Jr. and freshman Jordan Ware, ranks fifth on State's all-time top-five list and ranks eighth in the nation.

Tyrese Reid earned second place in the 800m with a personal record time of 1:45.76, surpassing the meet record time of 1:47.02. He is now ranked fourth on State's all-time top-five list and ranks second in the nation, just behind the first-place winner at the Battle of the Bayou, Sam Witmarsh of Texas A&M, who finished in a time of 1:44.46.

Rosealee Cooper took home fourth place in the 100m hurdles with a season-best time of 13.00. She currently ranks 10^thin the nation.

The Bulldogs will return to the track on Saturday April 6 for the Crimson Tide Invitational.
