
Bulldogs Fall At No. 14 Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla., - The start of Mississippi State's four-match road trip did not get off to the best of starts Friday.
The Bulldogs were shutout 4-0 at No. 14 Florida, the eighth-straight ranked foe they've faced to start off Southeastern Conference play with.
After the Gators (11-7, 7-2 SEC) took the doubles point, No. 84 Carly Briggs downed MSU's Maria Rizzolo 6-2, 6-0 in singles. No. 109 Qavia Lopez defeated Athina Pitta 6-2, 6-1 and Alicia Dudeney clinched the match with her 6-2, 6-3 victory against Chloé Cirotte.
When the match was clinched, the Bulldogs' Alessia Tagliente had taken her first set of her singles' match against Sophie Williams 6-3.
State (10-11, 0-8 SEC) now treks to 18th-ranked South Carolina on Sunday for a 10 a.m. CT start. The Gamecocks (13-5, 5-4 SEC) are coming off a 6-1 win over No. 30 Ole Miss on Friday and are 10-1 at home this season.Â
