STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State track and field program secured three personal records Thursday to open the Bulldog Alumni Relays.

Sophomore Tafada Wright led the Bulldog women with a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw with a personal-record distance of 49.48m (162' 4") on her second attempt. Wright improved her personal-best distance set in 2023 by over four feet. Her second attempt was two feet more than her first attempt.

Freshman Megan Womack also set a personal record with a distance of 44.63m (146-5.0) earned on her third attempt. Womack improved her mark by nearly 13 feet since her previous personal best set last week at the Hurricane Invitational.

Rickea Atkins set a personal best in her first outdoor meet of the season with a distance of 35.96m (118-0). It marked Atkins' second-consecutive year that she improved her mark at the Mike Sanders Track and Field Complex.

Roury McCloyen earned third place in the hammer throw with a distance of 52.28m (171-6.0). While McCloyen was just six inches shy of a personal record, it was his career-best finish in the hammer throw.

Mississippi State will continue the Bulldog Alumni Relays at 11 a.m. Friday with the discus throw followed by track events at 3:35 p.m. Saturday's Events will begin at 11 a.m. with the Javelin throws followed by relays kicking off running events at noon.

Alumni are invited back to Starkville for the event to enjoy a full weekend of family friendly events that include facility tours, a banquet, the opportunity to reconnect with former teammates and meet current athletes and coaches.
