Bulldogs Impressive On Day Two Of The Hurricane Invitational

CORAL GABLES – The Mississippi State track and field team completed its season opener with an impressive 13 personal records and six first place finishes on Saturday at the Hurricane Invitational. Senior Jhordyn Stallworth highlighted the Bulldogs' success by breaking the school record in the shot put.

Stallworth took home silver and broke her fifth school record in the shot put after throwing a distance of 16.41m
(53-10.25) on her fourth attempt. Stallworth broke the previous record, set by her in 2022, by over a foot. She currently holds the indoor, outdoor and freshman records, shot put records as well as the
Freshman and overall discus records.

Freshman Roury McCloyen earned his second first-place win of the weekend in the shot put with a distance of 18.46m (60-6.75). McCloyen now ranks second on the indoor and outdoor shot put list and holds the freshman shot put record.

Freshman sprinter Jordan Ware made a strong return to the track winning first place in the 200m with a time of 20.25. Ware ranks second on both the indoor and outdoor all-time top-five list for the 200m.

The javelin squad made a strong return as Junior transfer Ella Knott added her name to State's all-time top-five list in her first event in maroon and white. She earned second place with a personal record distance of 50.42m
(165-5.0), while Junior Remi Rougetet won first place in the men's javelin. Knott ranks second on the all-time list.

Freshman sprinter Jordan Ware also made an impressive return to the track by winning first place in the 200m with a time of 20.25. Ware ranks second on both the indoor and outdoor all-time top-five list for the 200m.

The Bulldogs will return to the track next weekend Thursday, March 21 for the inaugural Alumni Bulldog Relays hosted by Mississippi State.
