McCloyen Breaks Record On Day One Of The Hurricane Invitational

CORAL GABLES – The Bulldogs concluded Day One of the Hurricane Invitational with seven top-five finishes and six personal records. Freshman Roury McCloyen broke the freshman discus record to close out the first day of the outdoor season opener.

McCloyen won first place with a distance of 53.72m (173-3.0) that ranks fourth on State's all-time top-five list. This is McCloyen's third time breaking a school record. During the 2024 indoor season, he broke the freshman indoor/outdoor shot put school record twice with a personal best distance of 18.75m (61-6.25).

Junior Dan Joyce also wrote his name onto State's All-Time Top-Five List with a personal best performance in the 3000m with a time of 8:32.80. Joyce finished fifth and ranks fourth on the list.

Senior Kennedy Jackson placed second in the women's long jump with a personal record distance of 6.03m (19-9.5), while senior Jordan Barrow finished fourth in the men's long jump with a personal record distance of 7.48m (24-6.5).

Senior Jhordyn Stallworth earned fifth place in the discus with a distance of 50.98m (167-3) achieved on her final attempt. Tafada Wright threw a personal record on her first attempt with a distance of 46.73m (153-3).

The Bulldogs will continue its outdoor season opener at 10 a.m. CT with the javelin throws followed by track events beginning at noon CT on Saturday.
