
Bulldogs Complete Opening Day of Therese Hession Regional Challenge

PALOS VERDES, Calif. – The Mississippi State women's golf team took on No. 7 Oregon and Arizona in the first two matches in the Therese Hession Regional Challenge on Saturday.

Early in the first match with the Ducks, the Bulldogs jumped to an early 2-0 lead through five holes, with Samantha Whateley and Chiara Horder leading by one hole. State ultimately dropped the match 5-0.

In the second match of the day against Arizona, Julia Lopez Ramirez was able to secure a match win. Early in the contest, Lopez Ramirez fell behind two holes. However, when she made the turn onto the front nine, Julia was able to turn the tides stretched her lead to four holes.

Avery Weed also saw success in her second match of the day. Weed never fell behind in her second match of the day. With two holes remaining, the match was ultimately called due to darkness. Since she held a one-hole lead at the time, this would give Weed her first collegiate match victory.Â
