February 03, 2024 | Men's Golf
VICTORIA, Australia – Mississippi State graduate student Hunter Logan shot a 5-under third round to make the final cut and advance to Saturday evening's fourth and final round at the Vic Open on the PGA Tour Australasia. Logan shot his best round of the tournament so far, carding a 67 to become one of just 32 golfers to make the final cut. Â
He started his round off strong, carding back-to-back birdies on the second and third holes to sit at 2-under through the front nine. He would continue his success on the back nine, carding four birdies including one on his final hole. Â
Through three rounds, Logan has carded 15 birdies, just three shy of his single tournament career high. Additionally, he has already secured at least the second-best finish in a professional event of his career, dating back to his second-place performance at the Gulf States Open in July 2023.Â
Logan's combined score of a 7-under 209 places him in a 5-way tie for 19th place in the field and six strokes back of the overall leader. He is currently the highest placing amateur in the field and was one of just two amateurs to make the initial cut after the second round.Â
Logan is set to tee off the final round of the tournament at 6:17 pm CT on Saturday. Â
