Mississippi State Falls At Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. – Mississippi State fell 77-60 to Auburn inside Neville Arena on Thursday.
Mississippi State is now 20-10 and 7-8 in the SEC.
Senior guard Jerkaila Jordan turned in her seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds in 28 minutes, while graduate student center Jessika Carter added 16 points and seven rebounds in 33 minutes.
Auburn secured a 13-7 lead at the initial media timeout with 4:40 left in the first quarter. With the Tigers holding onto 19-9 edge, senior guard Darrione Rogers knocked down a corner three that cut the deficit to 19-12 at the conclusion of the first 10 minutes.
Rogers buried a long-range three - her second from behind the arc in the first half - to make the score 37-28 in favor of the home side entering the halftime locker room.
Carter led all Bulldogs with seven points in the first half to help Mississippi State turn in 16 paint points through the opening 20 minutes.
Sophomore guard Debreasha Powe and Rogers knocked down back-to-back triples and Carter finished a transition look inside to spark an 8-0 run by Mississippi State. The run closed the margin to 41-36 before Auburn responded with five-straight points leading into the third quarter media timeout with 4:50 minutes left in the third quarter.
Jordan corralled an offensive board and laid it in to finished off a 7-0 run that closed the deficit to 50-57 with 7:22 left in the fourth quarter - the closest margin for the remainder of the contest.
Mississippi State will celebrate Senior Day against Missouri inside Humphrey Coliseum on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
