Diamond Dawgs Falls To Georgia Southern

STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State baseball team fell behind early and could not comeback as they were defeated by Georgia Southern, 11-4, in game two of the series.
Joe Powell led the Dawgs at the plate going 2-for-4 with two runs on the day. David Mershon drove in two runs for State and had one hit in the game. Six different MSU players picked up a hit in the contest.
Khal Stephen got the start on the mound and was given the loss after 2 1/3 innings pitched. Stephen struck out three. Cole Cheatham, Tyson Hardin, Karson Ligon and Luke Dotson threw a combined 5.5 innings and struck out a combined seven. Dotson picked up a career-high four strikeouts.
Mississippi State is back in action for the series finale as first pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Dudy Noble Field. The game will be broadcasted on SECN+.
