Complete 2025 Softball Schedule Released
December 20, 2024 | Softball
STARKVILLE – As Opening Day approaches for Mississippi State softball, head coach Samantha Ricketts has released the program's full 2025 schedule. The Bulldogs' 24-game SEC slate was announced in September, giving MSU a 53-game schedule with 27 home games.
Â
MSU will play 29 non-conference games throughout the season. State is set to play 17 games against seven teams that finished the 2024 season ranked in the final NFCA Coaches' Poll. Four of those teams, accounting for 13 contests, finished inside the top 10.
Â
"We are thrilled to unveil another exciting and competitive schedule for the spring," head coach Samantha Ricketts said. "Challenging ourselves early is key to preparing for SEC play. With big home matchups both in and out of conference, we can't wait to welcome our fans back to Nusz Park soon."
Â
The Bulldogs open the season at the previously-announced NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida, on Feb. 7. MSU will meet Texas Tech, Penn State, Bethune-Cookman, Duke and Nebraska.
Â
MSU's home opener is set for, Thursday, Feb. 13, with the first matchup of The Snowman: Alex Wilcox Memorial tournament against Southern Illinois. North Texas, Bradley and Georgia Tech will also compete at The Snowman. The 2025 edition marks Southern Illinois' third appearance in the tournament, making the Salukis the most-common visiting team in the event's history. Georgia Tech is making its second appearance at The Snowman.
Â
The resumption of the MSU-UNT series ends one of the longest gaps between meetings in MSU's history. The teams last played on Apr. 19, 1986, which is the 11th-longest gap between games in Mississippi State history among teams that still field an NCAA Division I softball program today.
Â
Mississippi State will host Samford on Tuesday, Feb. 18 before making an appearance at the inaugural Rocket City Softball Showcase in Madison, Alabama, on Feb. 20-23. The Bulldogs will play four games in four days against North Alabama, Jacksonville State, Louisiana Tech and Miami (Ohio) at Toyota Field, home of the Rocket City Trash Pandas, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels.
Â
Following another midweek matchup with UAB on Wednesday, Feb. 26, State will host the Bulldog Invitational at Nusz Park on Feb. 28-March 2 when they welcome Alabama State, New Mexico and Northwestern State to Starkville. The Bulldogs last played Northwestern State in the 2016 Bulldog Invitational, and State has not played New Mexico since playing in a neutral-site tournament in 1997.
Â
The Bulldogs will once again host Louisiana for a midweek contest on March 5 before opening conference play on March 7-9 against Auburn. Between their first two SEC series, the Bulldogs will host Middle Tennessee on March 12 before heading to Alabama on March 14-16.
Â
The month of March, however, will see a lengthy interruption in conference play. Following the Alabama series, State has five consecutive non-conference matchups, all on the road. The Bulldogs will play at UAB on Wednesday, March 19 before traveling to Evanston, Illinois, for a three-game series at Northwestern on March 21-22. The following week features a contest at Southern Miss on Wednesday, March 26 before resuming league play.
Â
State's final non-conference game is scheduled for Tuesday, April 1 at home against Central Arkansas. The SEC Tournament will be in Athens, Georgia, this season on May 6-10.
Â
Game times will be announced with the release of the SEC television schedule.
Â
Season tickets cost $99 with convenient payment plan options. Single-game tickets and group sales will go on sale at a later date. Bully's Kids Club members will receive complimentary admission to regular-season softball games.
MSU students who purchased an All-Sports Pass earlier this year will automatically have softball games included in their package. Additionally, students may purchase softball-only packages for $30 for the year.
