STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women's basketball announced that four-star guard Jaylah Lampley has signed at the start of the early signing period on Wednesday.Â
Â
Lampley, a 6-1 guard from Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis, is ranked the No. 38 overall and second-rated prospect in Indiana in the 2025 class by espnW HoopGurlz. She is the highest-rated recruit by the outlet to date under head coach Sam Purcell.
Â
"We're thrilled to have Jaylah Lampley join our family," Purcell said. "Jaylah is going to be a fan favorite from the moment she arrives in Starkville. She comes from a basketball family full of winners; her work ethic and IQ are off the charts. She's a talented guard with deep three-point range and elite defensive tendencies, who has the ability to create opportunities for herself and her teammates. She's going to help set the tone from day one and we can't wait to have her here as a Mississippi State Bulldog."
Â
Lampley led Lawrence Central to the 2024 IHSAA Class 4A State Championship in her junior season, in which she averaged 18.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. She was named the 2023-24 MaxPreps Indiana High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year.
Â
"As a mother, I'm proud of the young woman that Jaylah is and continues to become," Lawrence Central head coach Jannon Lampley said. "She's a true student-athlete. She's caring, loyal, genuine and a hard worker. She had a vision of what she wanted her high school experience to be. She committed to that vision; she set the standard, led by example and refused to be denied. She is driven, tough, and a leader. From a coaches' perspective, she's the type of player you take with you to go to war – she rises to the occasion."
Â
"I think Jaylah's impact at Mississippi State will be similar to the impact she's had here at Lawrence Central. Mississippi State has a history of success, I think Jaylah will make an immediate impact that will help the program continue to elevate and be competitive on a national level."
Â
Lampley is joined by fellow espnW HoopGurlz Top-100 prospects No. 39 Madison Francis (Lancaster Central High School / Lancaster, N.Y.) and No. 95 Nataliyah Gray (Alief Taylor High School / Houston, Texas) to round out Mississippi State's 2025 class.Â
