State Collects Four Wins On Friday

ATLANTA – Mississippi State men's tennis team had a successful first day at the GT Fall Invite by collecting four wins on Friday.
Michal Novansky swept the day, winning both his singles and doubles matches. Novansky started things off teaming alongside Radomir Tomic for an 8-3 victory over instate rivals Loan Lister and Benjamin Martin of Ole Miss. The junior from Slovakia kept his foot on the gas in singles by besting Liberty's Chase Robinson in straight sets 6-4, 7-6(4).
Sophomores Marshall Landry and Roberto Ferrer Guimaraes also added singles wins as well. Landry, the 2023 doubles champion at the GT Fall Invite, earned a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Georgia Tech's Owen DeMuth on his home court. Ferrer Guimaraes endured a hard-fought battle and won a three-set thriller topping Siwanat Auytayakul of Liberty 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(6).
All four Bulldogs competing at the event will be back in action on Saturday morning. Doubles begins at 8 a.m. CT with Novansky and Tomic taking on another Ole Miss tandem of Matthew Chambonniere and Isac Stromberg. Ferrer Guimaraes and Landry are set for a match against Vignesh Gogineni and Jason Shuler of Yale.
Singles play starts for State at approximately 11 a.m. CT as Ferrer Guimaraes battles Shuler, Novansky faces Chambonniere, Tomic plays Robinson and Landry goes against Liberty's Rodrigo Santiago.
