Bulldogs drop 58-25 decision against Razorbacks.
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State quarterback Michael Van Buren Jr. continued his outstanding true freshman season and running back Davon Booth boosted the Bulldogs on the ground and through the air, but it wasn't enough as Arkansas topped MSU 58-25 at Davis Wade Stadium on Saturday.
Van Buren threw for 309 yards and a pair of touchdowns while also running for a score. Meanwhile, Booth had a 54-yard touchdown reception and rushed for 93 yards. Receiver Kevin Coleman Jr. also excelled for MSU with eight catches for 100 yards and a score to stand out for the State offense.
However, the Bulldogs found themselves in catch-up mode for much of the day as Arkansas scored a touchdown less than two minutes into the contest. The Razorbacks never trailed from there.
Still, the Bulldogs mounted 471 yards of offense against Arkansas and behind that firepower as well as a key Nic Mitchell interception, State scored a couple of late-third-quarter touchdowns and made the game a two-possession contest entering the fourth.
Arkansas was then able to pull away in the final period. A Razorback field goal and a pair of Arkansas touchdowns kept MSU at bay and set the game's final margin.

Next Up for MSU…
Homecoming Saturday awaits in Starkville when Mississippi State returns to action on Nov. 2 against UMass. Kickoff is set for 3:15 p.m. at Davis Wade Stadium. The game will be televised by SEC Network.
