Mississippi State might be known as D-Line U but the Bulldogs' former cornerbacks enjoyed a solid showing during Week 7 of the NFL this past weekend.
Former first-round draft pick Emmanuel Forbes picked off a pass and returned it 19 yards in Washington's 40-7 rout of Carolina. It was the first interception of the season for Forbes and second of his pro career.
Six-time Pro Bowler Darius Slay tied for third on Philadelphia's defense with four tackles (all solos) to go along with one stop for loss and a pass defense. Martin Emerson tied for second on Cleveland's defense with six tackles while rookie Decamerion Richardson recorded his first career tackle for Las Vegas.
Richardson also earned the third-best coverage grade for the Raiders this past week according to Pro Football Focus (PFF).
Willie Gay Jr. notched a pair of tackles for New Orleans while also forcing and recovering a fumble while Denico Autry made his season debut for Houston.
Jeffery Simmons also had two stops for Tennessee to go along with a quarterback hurry and a pass defense. Simmons earned the top run defense and pressure grades for the Titans during Week 7 and has the team's top run defensive grade for the year at 80.3, which also ranks third-best in the NFL at his position.
Charles Cross and Elgton Jenkins continue to have stellar seasons in the trenches for Seattle and Green Bay respectively. Cross started at left tackle and played all 60 offensive snaps for the Seahawks this past week. The former first-round pick ranks fourth in run-blocking (85.5) among NFL tackles this season and has the No. 6 offensive grade (85.0) at his position.
Jenkins started at left guard and logged all 58 snaps for the Packers. The two-time Pro Bowler holds the third-highest pass-blocking grade among all NFL guards at 83.2 this year.
