Dawgs Drop Contest Against Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Mississippi State Bulldogs fell 3–1 in their match against the Missouri Tigers.
The Bulldogs kept the lead for the majority of set one but ended up dropping the set 27-25. After a loss in set two, the Bulldogs came back with a 31-29 win in set three. State won the set with a Rebecca Walk kill. The Bulldogs fell just short of the comeback, as Mizzou took the win 3-1.
Kailin Newsome picked up her eighth double-double of the season in the match against the Tigers. She collected a team-high 15 kills and a team-best 15 digs while also tallying a team-high 17 points.
Amina Shackelford hit a team-best .400 with 13 kills. Karli Schmidt collected 11 kills while Walk rounded out the team with five. Arissa Smith tallied a team high seven total blocks.
McKenna Yates and Ceci Harness collected 12 and seven digs, respectively. Harness also tallied a team-best 24 assists, while Erin Kline picked up 13.
From the service line, Mele Corral-Blagojevich grabbed 2 aces in the match, while Newsome picked up one as well.
The Bulldogs are back at the Griss Wednesday against the Ole Miss Rebels. First serve is set for 7 p.m., with the match being broadcast on SEC Network.
